ABOUT US—A FAMILY AFFAIR
Juan DiGiulio and his wife, Sam, make a great team. Juan brings the creative inspiration, and Sam brings the financial know-how and moral support. The couple founded Succotash in June 2018. Soon after the launch, Juan’s mom Susan joined the team to manage booking and pitch in with food prep.

But it all started in South Louisiana where DiGiulio was born and raised. Growing up where the love of food and celebration is legendary, he was exposed early on to the art of great cooking. His fondest memories are of crawfish boils, family gatherings, and time spent feasting at his family’s Italian restaurant. While the family restaurant sparked his inspiration, he continued to develop his skills working in restaurants in Baton Rouge, London, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He returned to Durham in 2007 where he has worked in some of Durham’s best-known establishments, including Nana’s, Vin Rouge, Piedmont, and Namu.

DiGiulio will tell you that making food is in his blood and that serving food is all about showing love. You are sure to appreciate his passionate approach to creating his unique Southern Fusion, the traditional foods of the south, and his specialty catering offerings.

They were extremely backed up and it appears they were not prepared for such a large group. They needed two people cooking and preparing, and two to keep orders handed out and help keep things orderly. I think they can be better prepared in the future. The food is great so that is why there was such a crowd. The wait was around 30-45 past the order ready target. But overall no complaints

Smoked brisket was excellent. The sides (smash-fried potatoes and slaw) were also really good.
